About Kovil Bhojanam

Born from the rich culinary traditions of Tamil Nadu, Kovil Bhojanam brings the authentic taste of South Indian home-style cooking to your table. Our name, meaning "Temple Feast," reflects the warmth, purity, and hospitality inspired by South Indian culture, where every meal is prepared with love and respect.

Every meal is prepared with devotion, using time-honored recipes passed down through generations. From the grinding of fresh spices on a traditional ammi kal to the slow simmering of sambar in brass vessels, we preserve the authenticity that makes South Indian cuisine a spiritual experience.

Seated on traditional mats or at carved wooden tables, served on fresh banana leaves — here, every meal is a celebration of culture, community, and devotion.

The Principles We Serve By

Purity (Sattva)

We serve 100% vegetarian food. No onions, no garlic, and absolutely no artificial additives, colors, or chemical preservatives. Only pure, fresh, and life-giving ingredients.

Authenticity

We do not compromise on recipes. From the proportion of spices to the use of stone grinders and wood-pressed oils, we maintain absolute fidelity to historical temple recipes.

Devotion (Bhakti)

Food cooked with love and devotion digests as nectar. Our chefs and staff approach cooking and service as a form of worship, greeting every guest with warmth and reverence.

The Alchemy of Traditional Cookware

Modern cookware might be convenient, but it strips food of its natural soul. At Kovil Bhojanam, we strictly cook using traditional vessels that have been scientifically and historically proven to enhance health and flavor:

  • Clay Pots (Manpaanai): Used for slow-cooking our traditional gravies. Clay is alkaline, which neutralizes the acidity in food and retains 100% of the moisture and nutrients.
  • Bronze & Brass (Vengalam & Pithalai): Excellent heat conductors that preserve the natural colors and flavors of lentils and rice, ensuring even cooking and nutrition retention.
  • Stone Grinders (Kal Ural): Our chutneys and spice mixes are hand-ground on stone. Unlike electric mixers, stone grinding generates no heat, keeping the essential oils and aroma of the spices intact.
